Two semi-finals in 2008
It's official, from now on and until Mr. Svante Stockselius doesn't come up with another ideia, we will have two semi-finals in the Eurovision Song Contest. Only the host nation and the Big 4 (France, Spain, UK and Germany) are direct qualifiers to the final.
This seems to me like a good decision after all the controversy surrounding this year semi-final qualifiers and specially because it will, hopefully, make the contest to be more based on the merits of each individual song/performer then in other not so artistic factors.
My only concern is that too much Eurovision might kill Eurovision!
