The last song of the year was choosen yesterday by the BBC, the group Scooch will represent the UK with the song Flying the flag (for you). This sounds like Aqua dressed in Sestre's clothes!!! I'm still deciding if I like it or not...

On the road to Helsinki: Russia reveals girlsband

The group Serebro will represent Russia in Helsinki with the song Song n.º1. For me this is a big disapointment. The song is ok, very MTV but not very catchy. They will off course have votes to keep them in the first 15 positions but the 2008 semi is waiting for them...

Algumas notas sobre o sorteio da ordem de actuação

Bom, parece que não é só a RTP que mete o pé na argola nestas coisas eurovisivas. Durante a tarde de ontem efectuou-se o sorteio da ordem de actuação na semifinal, final e atribuição dos votos na final em Helsínquia. Sorteio este que deveria ter sido transmitido na Web, através do site eurovision.tv, às 14 hora e 15 minutos. Pontualmente lá fui ao dito site para ver o sorteio e nada, actualizava a página e nada, e nada, e nada... Acabei por saber da ordem de actuação através de um comentário de um fã no site esctoday.com...
De acordo com informação estatística complicada pelo site All kind’s of everything os melhores lugares para actuar na semi final são: 13.º, que saiu à Croácia; 14.º que calhou à Polónia, 15.º no qual actuará a Sérvia e 20.º que foi atribuído a Malta. Todos estas starting positions apuraram para final os países que nelas actuaram em 2004, 2005 e 2006. Com dois países apurados surgem as posições número 8, 11, 18 e 22, que calharam em sorte à Suíça, Albânia, Macedónia e Hungria respectivamente. Logo por azar, nenhum destes números calhou a um dos seis países que ainda não meteram o pé na final depois do sistema de 2 noites ter sido introduzido no ESC.
Portugal, que não é finalista desde 2003, foi presenteado com a posição 17, após a balada rock dos estreantes checos e a canção etno-pop da Macedónia. A canção que mais se assemelha à portuguesa é a da Noruega, que cantará em 19.º, logo a seguir a Macedónia portanto. Mas, para sorte nossa e azar deles é precedida pelo segundo intervalo....
Acho portanto que temos razões para ficar contentes com o sorteio. Ficamos no meio de duas canções bastante diferentes da nossa e no final do segundo conjunto de canções. Claro que não vamos a final mas pelo menos ficamos mais tempo expectantes em relação à participação nacional. Espero que o Dino Alves este ano fique em casa...
A titulo de curiosidade das posições 2, 3, 6, 9, 12, 23 e 25, nas quais actuarão Israel, Chipre, Geórgia, Moldavia, Dinamarca, Estónia e Eslovénia, nunca ajudaram ninguém a apurar-se para a final.
Ser a última canção também só ajudou em 2004. Este ano a fechar a semifinal actuará a Letónia, que recebeu um joker e pode assim escolher o seu lugar no desfile das canções à procura de um lugar na final, escolhendo precisamente o 28.º posto.
Em relação à pior posição para cantar na final, o 2.º lugar, calhou aos espanholes, o que me obriga a pensar seriamente em fazer um mealheiro para poder ir assistir ao ESC do próximo ano ao vivo, uma vez que, Madrid 2008 se torna altamente improvável. Não é que eu tivesse muita esperança nos NASH mas enfim, também não foram nada bafejados pela sorte... Nunca ninguém ganhou cantando em 2.º.
Dos outros três grandes a França (minha grande favorita) canta a seguir ao intervalo em 13.º lugar, a Alemanha canta em 16.º, depois da Rússia, e o Reino Unido em 19.º após a maravilhosa Verka Serduchka da Ucrânia.
A abrir a final teremos a Bósnia & Herzegovina, sendo que a última posição caberá a um país proveniente da semifinal.

Festival da Canção 2007

Bom, depois de alguns nervos por causa dos bilhetes que nunca mais apareciam, lá fui assistir ao vivo ao Festival da Canção 2007.
Devo confessar que, apesar de todas as descrições optimistas dos sites eurovisivos nacionais que cobriram os ensaios, as minhas expectativas em relação ao evento não eram altas.
Já dentro da Sala Tejo era inevitável o nervoso miudinho. Eu não vejo a Eurovisão por causa das representações nacionais mas, o nosso país é sempre o nosso país.
Primeiro ponto positivo a favor da RTP: desta vez havia um cenário que ia para além de uns simples ecrãs postos aos cantos do palco.
Nas bancadas fixas ficaram as claques e no chão, em mesas redondas tipo casino/casamento, os Vips e figuras da RTP. Nós ficamos de lado, atrás de uma das gruas!!!
Bom, de repente plim tinha começado sem que ninguém tivesse percebido. Depois de um número de talento nacional lá começaram as cançonetas.

1. Filipa Cardoso & Edmundo Vieira - Desta Vez
De início, isto até parecia que podia ser uma balada engraçadita mas afinal não era. Apesar de não ser a pior da noite, teria ficado certamente muito melhor se fosse interpretada apenas pela Filipa Cardoso, cuja voz poderosa quase quem nem se ouviu, certamente para não abafar o teen idol. Next...

2. Marta Plantier & Os Corvos - Piano piano
Já tinha ouvido um zumzum que esta canção tinha alguma piada e, de facto, acabou por ser a minha favorita das 10. Marta Plantier tem uma voz atípica que deu maior interesse à canção. Os Corvos é que não sei bem o que estavam a fazer no palco... Algum ritmo e evolução, coisa rara este ano.

3. Luiz e a lata - Ai pode
Pronto a RTP insistiu em convidar o produtor das Coisas de nada para este festival e o resultado não podia ter sido pior. Canção para além de chata, sem a mínima graça...

4. Sabrina - Dança comigo (vem ser feliz)
Emanuel não desiludiu e trouxe ao festival uma canção bem ao seu estilo - pimba. E não é que ganhou! Durante toda a canção e depois da actuação, bastante aceitável vocalmente, ficou claro para muita gente que esta seria uma das favoritas da noite.

5. Diogo T. - Chega foi demais
Confirma-se que o Ramon Galarza não aprendeu nada ao ser júri de pré-selecção em Malta. Canção antiquada e sem interesse nenhum. Estava meia Sala Tejo a dormir passado 30 segundos. Acho que realmente a RTP deve dizer Chega ao Sr. Ramon para o ano.

6. Triburbana - Dá-me a luz
What was this shit! Se querem levar um fado por mim tudo bem, mas não é necessário fazerem misturas pós-modernas por favor. Guarda roupa para além de medonho.

7. Melo D. feat. Elaisa - Será cedo?
Pronto esta até era moderna e assim. Mas também nada de especial. Grande desilusão.

8. Teresa Radamanto - Ai de quem nunca cantou (2.º lugar)
Única balada da noite. Boa interpretação por parte da Teresa Radamanto. Não era má de todo, seria talvez a canção mais "dignificante" para ir a Eurovisão. Claro que ficava era mal classificada, apesar de todos os elogios feitos certamente a cantora durante a semana de ensaios em Helsínquia.

9. Nuno Feist & Vanessa - Além do sonho (3.º lugar)
O mano Feist realmente teve uma boa ideia quando fez esta canção, só que esse momento de inspiração só serviu para fazer 1 minuto de música... Ou seja, a canção tornou-se chata. Não foi a lado nenhum, a letra parecia saída de um filme da Disney e tinha muitas palavras, de maneira que em certas alturas parecia que não cabia bem na música... Ponto positivo para o look da Vanessa.

10. Zé P. - Na ilha dos sonhos

Sem querer ser mauzinho o Zé P. parece saído de uma clinica de reabilitação para toxicodependentes. O que até nem tinha mal nenhum, todas as pessoas merecem uma segunda oportunidade, só que nestas coisas Eurovisivas o look também conta. Boa prestação vocal, a canção é que enfim, nem parecia do Cid.

Pelo meio das canções e durante o intervalo houve uma coisa que quase teve graça, sobre uma banda que queria concorrer ao festival... Borring!

E pronto, tinha chegado o grande momento e a vencedora foi mesmo a Sabrina com a "orelhuda" canção Dança comigo. Acho que por esta altura metade dos vips teve um colapso, a outra metade ficou apenas contente porque já faltava pouco para acabar o suplício.

Certamente que andará por aí muita gente indignada com a vitória de uma canção pimba no festival, têm muito bom remédio, para o ano façam canções melhores e não tenham vergonha de participar no Festival da Canção.

Quanto a mim o resultado foi justo, tendo sido certificado pelo televoto popular, por isso ninguém se pode queixar. Foi uma grande victório para o Emanuel que, mantendo-se fiel ao seu estilo musical conseguiu bater todos os outros produtores ditos "sérios"... Espero agora que ele e a sua equipa possam continuar a trabalhar para apresentarem uma boa prestação na semi-final do próximo dia 10 de Maio. Claro que dificilmente vamos à final, mas isso não conseguiamos nem com esta nem com qualquer outra canção presente nesta final.

On the road to Helsinki: Sweden and Czech Republic

Sweden: Hot favourites The Ark won with The Worrying Kind. I think this can be described has glam rock with a touch of Abba. It's a very nice song, lets see what the result will be in Helsinki.

Czech Republic: Another male group won here, Kabát with the rock song Mála dáma. If you disliked Hard rock halleluja you wont probably like this either... No monsters costumes however.

Sweden: Melodifestivalen 2007

1. Andreas Johnson - A Little Bit Of Love (last year's song was much better)

2. Sonja Aldén- För att du finns (this could be a surprise winner but I think it will end up being 3rd or 4th)

3. Anna Book - Samba sambero (how latina is Anna?)

4. Sebastian - When the night comes falling (very nice song)

5. Marie Lindberg - Trying To Recall (this is borring but the swedes are given big love to ballads this year)

6. Måns Zelmerlöw - Cara mia (nice song, nice dance routine, hunky singer. What are they waiting for, give Måns the ticket to Helsinki)

7. Tommy Nilsson - Jag tror på människan (last place?)

8. Sanna Nielsen - Vågar du, vågar jag (the most schlagerific song of the evening)

9. Sarah Dawn Finer - I Remember Love (I remember Chiara)

10. The Ark - The Worrying Kind (glam rock. Hot favourites, nice song)

Portugal: Festival da Canção 2007 (i'm now on stand by to get a ticket lol)

1. Filipa Cardoso & Edmundo Viera - Desta vez (This time) (famous male singer and teen idol, shame he cant sing very well)

2. Marta Plantier & Os Corvos - Piano, piano (I was told this is a very powerfull song, Marta has a very original voice. The Corvos are the portuguese male group version of Vanessa May)

3. Luiz & Lata - Ai pode (The title is a joke with Ipod. From the same producer who gave us Coisas de nada)

4. Sabrina - Dança Comigo (Vem Ser Feliz) (Dance with me - come and be happy) (this is portuguese schlager, gooooooooo Sabrina)

6. TribUrbana - Dá-me a lua (Give me the moon) (a mix between fado and hip hop. Be affraid, be very affraid)

On the road to Helsinki: Germany, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine

Germany: Roger Cicero was the winner of the German selection with the song Frauen regier'n die Welt (Women rule the world). I was very happy that he won since he was my favourite song. This is not a usual eurovision tune but I think that it's vintage sound can appeal to the voters next May. Good luck Germany.

Serbia: No surprises here, a ballad with an ethnic backround sound won! Marija Serifovic is the singer and the name of the song is Molitva (Prayer). Its a nice song, Marija performs it very well but it sounds a bit old. Still I bet we will be seing this in the final so we better get used to it.

Turkey: Kenan Dogulu his the Turkish representative in Helsinki with the song Shake it up shekerim. Again this song is a mix of traditional and modern sounds. I like the intro...

Ukraine: This the funny song of the year! Verka Serduchka was the hot favourite and she will now represent the 2004 winners in Helsinki. Her song is called Danzing and its just fab, fab, fab! Let's danze!

360 x 15

360 é o número de pessoas que terá o prazer de assistir ao vivo ao próximo Festival da Canção na Sala Tejo do Pavilhão Atlântico. Destes 360 apenas 15 serão fãs, os outros deverão ser antigas vedetas do Festival, familiares e amigos dos interpretes e tias e tios vips que abrilhantam qualquer festa que se queira grande.
360 é um número estranho, uma vez que, a dita Sala Tejo dispõe de pelo menos 500 lugares sentados permanentemente. Será que fizeram um cenário grandioso em cima da bancada da assistência?
É ainda mais estranho porque segundo email da Ogae Portugal estava inicialmente prevista uma audiência de 1000 pessoas. Este número foi depois reduzido para menos de metade porque alguém se lembrou de colocar os vips em mesas frente ao palco! Deve ser para dar um ar intimo à "grande festa da música portuguesa"...
Enfim, sinceramente não sei o que dizer desta trapalhada da RTP.

Acho que este deve ser o meu último post dedicado a Portugal neste blog, é que com tantos países a participar no Festival da Eurovisão não tenho mais espaço nem paciência para aturar a RTP.

On the road to Helsinki: Austrian song revealed

Austrian broadcaster ORF choose Eric Papilaya and the song Get a life, get alive to represent them in the next ESC semi-final. Austria is not one of my favourites countries in terms of ESC and this year I would advice them to get a new song, because this one won't go very far.

Les Fatals Picards with L'amour à la Francaise won the french selection tonight. This is a caotic song, the live performance could be better but overall I love it.

On the road to Helsinki: Georgia, Lithuania, Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina

Georgia will have a great debut in the Eurovision with the song My story. I would however ask them to rework their stage performance because the presentation of this song in the national final was awfull.

In Lithuania the soft soft ballad Love or leave by 4fun won. I like it and think it can do well in the ESC... I love the thing with the curtain and the musicians shadows.

Croatia was my biggest dissapointment. Dragonfly feat. Dado Topic won Dora 07 with Vjerujem u ljubav. It will be the first time since 1997 that Croatia won't be one of my favourite songs of the year. It will probably qualify to the final and it will be very unfair!

Bosnia & Herzegovina is sending another ethnic ballad called Rijeka bez Imena by Marija Sestic . I fell like I should like it, but I dont.

Georgia makes is Eurovision debut this year. Sopho Khalvashi was choosen to represent the country and will sing five songs from which the public will choose one to go to Helsinki. All the songs Sopho will sing are of very high quality and are very diferent in style. My story is my personal favourite... The other songs are Fantasy Land, Freedom, On Adjarian Motives and Tell Me Why.
