National Final's Season Continues: 6 semis today

Tonight, 51 songs will try to reach one step closer to the ESC stage as six countries are going to hold a semi final in their national selections: Romania's Selectia Nationala 1st semi, Lithuania's 1st semi, Latvia Eirodziesma 1st semi, Norway's Melodi Grand Prix 2nd semi, Finland's 2nd semi of Euroviisut and Iceland's Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2nd semi final. And if you think this is to much next week there will be thirteen semi finals all over Europe!!!

On the road to Helsinki: Belarus decides

The Belarussian jury has decided that Dmitry Koldun with Work your magic will represent the country in Helsinki. Dmitry was the hot favourite to win Eurofest, having already won the 1st stage of the competion with the song Angel metchy.

Dmitry's winning song was composed by Philip Kirkorov (Russia 1995) and has lyrics by Karen Kavaleryan (lyricist for Russia 2002 and 2006). This experienced team might well achive Belarus first presence in the ESC final next May with this "007 meets pop" song.

Euroviisut 2007 - Semi final 1

Host nation Finland will hold today their first semi final of Euroviisut. YLE decided to stick with the winning format they used last year and so tonight we will have three invited artist who will sing two songs each. From this two the public will then choose one from each artist to go to the final.

Jani & Jetsetters, Hanna Pakarinen and Thunderstone are the acts competing in this semi final and here are my choices for tonight:

Melodi Granx Prix 2007 - Semi final 1

Norway will also star to select their entry tonight with the first semi final of Melodi Granx Prix, wich will take place at 20.20 CET in the city of Alta.

There will be six songs competing for a ticket to the Olso final. From this six only two songs will go directly to the final, the songs reaching 3rd and 4th place tonight will compete in the second-chance.

Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2007 - Semi final 1

Iceland national ESC preselection gets underway later today, with eight songs fighting for the right to be in the final and represent the island in Helsinki.
There is not much that can be said about this songs, except that they are soooooooooooo borring. Where is Silvia Night???
Still I took the trouble off listening to all the songs and here is my verdict:

Introducing Tzvika Pik

Tzvika Pik is most recently knowned as the composer of the 1998 ESC winning song Diva, but before that he had tried to enter Eurovision not only as a composer but also as a singer of his own songs. Artik kartiv was his attempt to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 in Ireland, but he ended up in 7th place in the national final.

Vielharmoniker competed in the 1980 German National Final, ending in the 10th position amongst 12 participants. The song is called In der Oper, I dont know if it is a comedy song or a tribute to the Opera but I definatly like it...
