Eurovision 2006 in a Portuguese radio.
Following an experience initiated in 2003 a Portuguese radio station, in colaboration with eurovision fan Vasco da Câmara Pereira, is broadcasting during this Eurovision week a series of small programs dedicated to that popular event.
According to Vasco, who is responsible for the choice of the songs, they want to show people that the Eurovision Song Contest is much more them just ABBA songs. Their goal is to show the audience the diversity of types of music present in the ESC.
This year the first song played was Finland's Hard Rock Hallelujah by monster rock band Lordi. The response from the audience of the show was positive, although some people were surprised that such a song is competing in the Eurovision. Other listeners called the radio to express their sadness over the fact that Portugal is not participating in the event anymore!!
In the next days we will be able to listen to the songs from Bosnia & Herzegovina, Norway, Latvia, Greece and Croatia. The presence of the Greek song is justified with the fact that Anna Vissi is a huge star in her native Greece and was still available to participate in the ESC, showing the vitality of the contest in some countries.
